How to use your 360fly 4K as a WebCam on your computer

With the recent updates to the 360fly mobile app on both Android and iOS, you can now use your camera as a webcam. This article will walk you through how to setup your camera and how to select your camera as the video source in popular video service application such as Skype and GotoMeeting.

With todays release of firmware version 2.1.4 for the 360fly 4K iOS users can now use their 360fly4K as a webcam. The firmware must be 2.1.4 or later for the webcam feature to be unlocked in the iOS app.

Webcam Mode Setup

To begin, confirm that you have the necessary firmware version installed on your 4K camera AND that you have the most recent app on your mobile device.

Now that you are up to date, launch the 360fly mobile app and go to the Camera tab. You might have to connect to your cameras Wifi network, so iOS users exit the app and launch the settings app to switch your cameras Wifi network.

Once connected to both Wifi and Bluetooth, tap on the Settings icon in the top right of the screen. Depending on device, you might have to scroll down a little to see the WebCam option. Now you will want to tap on the toggle and activate WebCam mode. Please note: When WebCam mode is activated, the toggle will show Green and you will see a Yellow banner across the top of the app.

Next connect the 360fly cradle to your USB cable and plug the other end into your computer. Now place your 360fly on the cradle.

Your camera is now able to be selected for use as a Video device. On a Mac, simply launch Photo Booth for a quick test to make sure the connection has been established correctly. You will notice that when in WebCam mode, the video is NOT interactive, instead it is a panoramic video that is cut in half and repositioned with one side placed on top of the other.
